Watercolor by Betty

Elizabeth (Betty) Weiss entered the world of watercolor painting in 2001 through the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts (NJCVA) in Summit, New Jersey.  Although the first class was overwhelming and the first year especially challenging, Betty has continued with classes and workshops at NJCVA, The Somerset Art Association, The Morris Museum, Union County College, and the Livingston Art Association, studying under Elizabeth Horowitz, W. Carl Burger, Angelito David, Ed Schuh and Mark demos.


Betty is an exhibiting member of the Essex Watercolor Club, the Millburn-Short Hills Art Center, the Drew Art Association and the Livingston Art Association.  She has exhibited her work as a solo artist at the New Providence Public Library and the New Providence Senior Center during 2004-2005.  Other exhibits have included the NJCVA  Members show, Union County Senior Art Exhibit at Liberty Hall in Union, NJ, Morris County Senior Art Exhibit at the Madison, NJ library, Essex Watercolor Club exhibits at the Morris County Library and the Library of the Chathams, Millburn-Short Hills Art Club exhibits at the Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ, the Chatham Township Art League’s exhibit at the Municipal Center in Chatham Township, NJ, the Sussex County Court House, Sussex, NJ and the Pen and Brush Society in NYC, New York.


Betty has received several awards for her work, including the 2004 Curtis Hillyer Memorial Award at NJCVA; 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008 Grand Awards, District Level, for the NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs; 2008 First Place Award, State Level, NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs, and a 2007 Merit Award with the Millburn –Short Hills Art Center.
